The 2017 National Council of La Raza (NCLR) Community Leaders Action Summit joins hundreds of Latino nonprofit and youth leaders from across the country in Washington, DC, to discuss the latest legislative and policy agendas impacting the Latino community.

At the three-day event, participants will develop local strategies to fight the hateful rhetoric our community is experiencing, learn new voter engagement tools, participate in issue briefings to design local campaigns, and carry out effective meetings with their representatives in the 115th U.S. Congress. Attendees will meet with members of Congress on Capitol Hill to advocate and defend critical wins that benefit millions of American families on issues such as affordable health care, immigration, educational equity, wealth-building, and civil rights.

Through this Summit, NCLR continues to foster the leadership development of nonprofit and youth leaders from across the nation with a robust agenda that cultivates the next generation of American leaders. This year, the Action Summit will also feature special sessions for Affiliate leadership and the NCLR Capital Awards gala, the premier and largest annual event in Washington, DC, that recognizes elected and appointed officials from both sides of the aisle for their outstanding support of public policies that are vital to Hispanic Americans. Additionally, NCLR awards the NCLR Capital Award for Public Service to honor changemakers outside of the political spectrum who courageously and tirelessly advocate on behalf of the Latino community.
